Ultrasound is now identified as an essential skill and has been included curriculum at all levels. This course is meant for you if you are an Acute or Emergency Physician, whether you are a Resident doctor, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Medical Associate Professional or a Consultant.
Course Curriculum
This course will give you the skills to confidently integrate POCUS into your everyday Emergency/ Medical/ Intensive care practice. Learn through hands-on scanning, image interpretation, case discussions, and evidence review. The course Covers:
Day 1
Basics: Ultrasound Physics, Knobology and Image Optimization
Abdominal US:Â Normal appearances of organs, Abdominal free fluid (ascites), Hydronephrosis, Bladder distension, US guided paracentesis
Thorax/ Lung US: Systemic examination, Normal appearances, Pneumothorax, Pleural fluid, Consolidation, Atelectasis, Interstitial syndrome
Vascular/ DVT: Vascular anatomy and differentiation, Common pathologies, US-guided vascular access, DVT
Quiz : Case based images review
Day 2
Course Curriculum
- Basic Ultrasound Physics and Knobology
- Focused ultrasound scan of the heart
- Interpretation of ultrasound findings in acute and critical settings
- Assessment of LV function, size and pathologies, RV function & pathologies,
Valvular pathologies, pericardial effusion, Pleural effusion and volume status
FUSIC Heart and BSE Level 1 accreditation process
